Sail Away from the Safe Harbor

Yeah, it's blurry but, SERIOUSLY, I need professional help!    AAAAAACK!!!

Can't decide whether to have a glass of wine or a bowl of ice cream before tackling this mess.  Oh well....guess this is where I'll start.

Oh dear,... and I went in there really prepared to like this movie...

Thank God I had a free movie ticket that I used, otherwise I would have been pissed at having spent any money. Top three phrases to describe this film:

1) Overwrought,

2) Over long,

3) Uber boring.

Sheesh...did no one associated with this mess ever hear of editing? Just because it is a pretty shot doesn't mean you need to stick in again and again and again. How 'bout a series of never ending pretty shots that added nothing the the thin story line there was.

How about some cohesion? Sean Penn's scenes looked like they belonged in a completely different movie.

What the heck was with the long, nonsensical, looked-straight-out-of-National-Geographic docudrama stuck in there for no reason? WTF, pensive dinosaurs? You gotta be kidding.

And don't even get me started on all the allegorical crap tacked on at the beginning AND ending of this film. We get it, you don't have to keep hitting us over the head with it. Enough already...aaaarrrh. Wasted 2.5 hours of my LIFE .

Finally getting some dye work done and here is the starting point.  Seventy-five yards of whiteness just waiting to be turned into something else.

Of course, the studio supervisor is on hand to make sure that I get all this fabric ready to go in one yard pieces for the dye pots.

Could there be an ulterior motive on his part? I think somebody never met a stray, dangling thread that he didn't like....

The mad scientist's table is all ready to go.

I quite like having all these beakers and stuff sitting about. Since I dye out of my garage, it gives the neighbors something to guess about... "What the --- is going on in THAT house?"

Now we are presoaking the fabric in salt water.

I often tell the cats that that only reason they are allowed to be studio supervisors is so that I can collect these handy buckets!

At last!  I've run out of buckets and energy for the day. The results are in...

There will be much more to come but so far I am in love with this color palette.
